All 8 Harry Potter Movies Are Heading Back to Theaters This Month

Clear a night (or eight) — the entire film series is going back on the big screen this month, and this isn’t just a nostalgia lap.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone turns 25 this year, and Warner Bros. is marking it properly: all eight films return to theaters worldwide from August 27 through September 3, 2026, timed to land on September 1 — the date students traditionally board the train back to Hogwarts. Tickets went on sale July 31, and participating chains include AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Megaplex, Harkins, and Marcus Theatres.

It’s not a straight rerun

The real hook for anyone who’s already seen these films a dozen times: the anniversary screening of Sorcerer’s Stone includes 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage that’s never played in a theater before. For a film this thoroughly memorized by its fanbase, new footage is a genuinely rare thing.

Back to Hogwarts goes global

The rerelease is the centerpiece of Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2026 Back to Hogwarts program, a week of coordinated fan events across four regions. HBO Max is running its first-ever Back to Hogwarts celebration in London on September 1, with interactive experiences tied to the upcoming HBO series. Paris gets a mass wand lesson at the Orangerie Gardens of the Château de Versailles; additional celebrations are planned across Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Australia, and Japan.
